Lake Mburo National Park, located in the southwestern part of Uganda, covers a total area of 370 square kilometers. Named after Lake Mburo within the park, it is renowned for being the finest place in Uganda to spot unique animal species like the Zebra, Impala, and Eland. The park is also home to Buffalo, Oribi, Defassa Waterbuck, Leopard, Hippo, Hyena, Topi, Crocodiles, and Reedbuck, offering visitors a rich wildlife experience.

Lake Mburo National Park is a haven for birdwatchers, hosting approximately 350 bird species. The park’s diverse habitats, including acacia woodlands and the Rubanga Forest, attract a variety of birdlife. Frequently seen birds include the African Fish Eagle, Abyssinian Ground Hornbill, White-winged Warbler, and Papyrus Yellow Warbler. Other notable species are the Saddle-billed Stork, Brown-chested Lapwing, African-wattled Lapwing, and African Scops Owl. The forest species of Rubanga, such as the Yellow-rumped Tinkerbird and Blue-breasted Kingfisher, add to the park’s avian diversity. The rare African Finfoot is a highly sought-after bird in the area.
